Restorative Justice

People having a discusssion

The Office of Neighborhood Safety and Engagment's Restorative Justice program is responsible for embedding RJ principles and services into the agency's core programs - Pathways, Family and Survivor Support, Violence Intervention and the ONSE Leadership Academy.

The RJ program will utilize a variety of RJ tactics, including: peace circles, conferences, therapeutic services and mediations. These practices will be designed to support both those impacted by violence directly and indirectly, as well as those responsible for harm.

The Restorative Justice program aims to:

  • Provide supportive and healing services to those impacted by violence
  • Address self-dicipline, empathy and accountability with those responsible for perpetuating harm or violence
  • Enhance community dialogue, cohesion, reconciliation and empowerment
