Mayor Bowser to Announce Grant Opportunities Available Through the Office of Gun Violence Prevention and Department of Parks and Recreation

Community-Based Mini Grants Will Support 25 New Awardees and Others Encouraged to Apply Now

(Washington, DC) – On Thursday, February 9 at 11 am, Mayor Muriel Bowser, the Office of Gun Violence Prevention (OGVP), the Office of Neighborhood and Safety Engagement (ONSE), and the Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) will announce new community-based grant awardees and opportunities to apply for a community-based grant through OGVP or DPR that is focused on violence prevention and recreation for all.

The Office of Gun Violence Prevention awards grants to residents or community-based organizations working within the community to prevent violence and support self-sustaining neighborhoods. The programs that the grants support include art therapy, bicycle maintenance, sports programs for youth, career building workshops, and more. The event tomorrow will showcase 25 winter grantees.

Applications are also now being accepted for DPR’s Rec for ALL Community Grants to support programs, activities, and events for young District residents through an investment of $3 million in the FY23 budget.
