The DC Office of Neighborhood Safety and Engagement has as its mission to build partnerships and implement strategies that reduce gun-related violence in the District.
ONSE fulfills this mission by coordinating the District’s gun violence prevention and intervention initiatives, using both public health and public safety tools, and focusing on identifying and engaging with those most likely to be involved in gun violence, providing them with an alternative to crime.
To support this mission, the ONSE announces the availability of funding through the ‘Empowering Communities Through Innovative Violence Intervention (EC)’ grant. This investment supports organizations with programs and/or services that address violence intervention and establish relationships with people and communities at the center of gun violence.
The Request for Application (RFA) provides an important opportunity for community-based organizations to apply for funding that allows them to work together to reduce gun violence in Washington, DC, by implementing violence strategies that provide intervention and prevention support. These violence intervention supports include engaging with residents and community members, providing ceasefire and mediation support, adult-life coaching, and mentorship.
